The Z stands for 'reconditioned' . These are brand new in 2007 at around $250.00 . Featuring 80 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohm from 20Hz to 20KHz with .07% THD. With this, I finally found enought power to satisfy me. I went and bought a factory reconditioned FL 8385 5 disk CD changer from the same eBay seller, which is the official HK rep, harmanaudio.It was not functioning on arrival. So, I tried the ol' flashlight trick, but it didn't work.This deck is sensitive to moisture, and so only works after letting it 'warm up' for awhile. Unless its a hot day. By now, I have sworn off the EQ, and going with a flat tone . No turntable, no cassette deck. I do have it hooked up to the cable box AND A VHS/DVD player . And that is my current setup. I'm looking into 5.1 surround, possibly something from Panasonic.But not a 'home theatre in a box' setup. Yet I am still not up to 6.1 or 7.1 at this time.
