A New Trail

by cleaverb

This trail had just opened in June 2005. That's why it was virtually unused. That and its location was nowhere near any neighborhoods. It's along the highway, and you have to drive to get there. I suppose in 10 years it might not be so odd, but they seem to build walking trails only in places where you have to drive to get there. Defeats the whole purpose sometimes.

I rode all the way to the back, before taking any pictures.

There was a young family at the bridge near there, and so I didn't take any photos there.

Kind of boring, but the road is open. All to yourself.

A small waterway.A natural spring, and it's cold.

It looks refreshing to get off the trail and into some shade,

and a family was not far away from here, having a picnic.

Not too far away, they built some mountain bike trails.

But since you 'have to drive' to get there, I still haven't gone there.

The McKissic interchange pretty much fouls any chance of putting a bike trail through.

Also, the traffic on county road 40 is fairly congested, and seeing as it has

no sidewalk, and absolutely no shoulder, it is quite perilous to attempt this route.

I have walked through it once or twice, yet it is no place for pedestrian traffic.

This, on the other hand, is beautiful riding.

If only there were some facilities, like drinking fountain or a store.

After passing under NW A Street, you are almost back to where you started.

It sure beats riding the shoulder of highway 71.

The bicycle project is a cool idea.More on that in a bit.

I guess our government has more important things to spend money on,rather than painting bridges.

The restaurant has been closed for awhile before the trail was built.

After you pass this point, you are greeted with a three wire fence, and shoulder high weeds.

The closed restaurant.

Why? they went through the billboard, one can only guess.

These bikes are for anyone to ride. They have to be dropped off at certain places.
From here, you could go downtown, and drop your bike off there. No word on if a bike would be available when you wanted to return.
